Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day Challenge

Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day Challenge

I’ve pinned Fat Mum Slim’s Photo A Day Challenges on my Pinterest Board multiple times, always with the intention of starting them right away.  What inevitably happens, however, is that I find another pin with a great idea that I intend to implement and the cycle of unused pins and theoretical awesomeness starts all over again. After two years, I’ve decided to commit it to doing it for real.  My better half started his own photo a day on his blog, which helped push me to committing to this one.

Here’s the way it works:

+Look at the prompt each day (see list below) and take a picture related to your interpretation of what it means to you.

+Post your picture to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.  (any social media you favor really)

+Enjoy the benefits of noticing the world around you

October Photo A Day

You can find more information here about the prompts and how it works.  Anyone want to join me?  I’ll be posting my pictures on Instagram and blogging about their meanings each day (hopefully). I’m staring with the end of September and hopefully will complete all of October.

Here’s Why I want to participate:

There are so many times that I rush around from one moment to the next without taking the time to notice.  Have you ever found that when you do slow down you discover the little things that could be easily missed: the ceiling tiles in a building you’ve visited a hundred times, your neighbor’s quirky lawn ornaments that probably have a story behind them (besides you wanting to dispose of them immediately), the sign you pass every day on your commute but have never taken the time to read (actually, that’s probably a good thing if you are being a safe driver).  Terrible examples.  Anyway, hopefully what I’m trying (not so eloquently) to say, makes sense.

Today, I’m committing to paying attention to the things around me that make my life unique.  Hopefully this will allow you to get to know me better and allow me to get to know myself better as well.

Here’s to the little things, the big things, and the in between things that make us who we are.  And here’s to noticing and putting a name to them.

[…] I spotted some turtles sitting on a curved log in the water, soaking up the sun.  Perfect picture for curves! I attempted to walk down to the edge of the water to get a closer look and snap away (not a good idea in boots and a dress), when JB’s uncle decided to yell, “SNAKE!”  I then proceeded to scream, fumble all over the place, and fall over on a rock, all while watching the turtles jump into the lake along with my perfect picture.  Here’s a photo I took before trying to get closer:My reaction to Chip’s snake comment was a combination of, “I’m going to kill you, but that was also pretty funny,” look:Here were some other curves I found after the turtle incident: I finally settled on a picture of their dog, Lily, later that night because she wasn’t afraid to rock her curves:+ To learn more about Fat Mum Slim’s Photo of the Day go here or check out my blog post about it here […]

[…] Coming in a close second to the Space Shuttle was the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, the world’s fastest jet-propelled aircraft.  It was built in 1964, but looks incredibly futuristic to me.  It was ridiculously fast when it was in the air and became faster the faster it flew.  Pause for marveling. This was all due to the engineer’s scientific genius and because of the coolness of science itself.  Besides the big two, we saw aircrafts from different wars, business and commercial planes, rockets, missiles, ______(insert any other mode of flight here).  The museum was FREE (besides the $15 parking fee) and definitely worth the trip. The Top Gun plane (ladies):+ To learn more about Fat Mum Slim’s Photo of the Day go here or check out my blog post about it here […]
