Sewn Studio

Sewn Studio

Sewn Studio opened up in the Oakley Design District two years ago and it’s quickly become a second home.  There wasn’t a great modern fabric shop around the Cincinnati area and the only option seemed to be Joanne’s.

I signed up for their beginner sewing course with my sister after discovering that we’d forgot how to wind a bobbin.  Several You Tube videos and phone calls to mom later, we realized it was hopeless and needed a refresher course.

Julie, the owner, was our instructor for the beginner sewing class.  She was and is amazing.  She has the softest, sweetest demeanor and never loses patience despite all of your fumbles and seam rippings. My sister and I somehow walked away with a finished pillow cover and I haven’t stopped sewing since.  I get giddy when the new class list comes out and immediately call my mom to figure out what to take.  All of the instructors that work there are incredibly talented and kind.  I feel like Norm from Cheers when I walk in the shop now. They always remember your name and are there to help with any questions you have, even the simple, silly ones.

If you live in the Cincinnati area you should definitely check out this shop and sign up for one of their great classes!
